Remove Link Plugin updated for WordPress 3.0 Menus

Jul 20th, 2010

Just a quick post to let you know that John Blackbourn has updated the “Remove Link to Current Page” WordPress plugin for me, so it now also caters for WordPress 3.0′s fancy schmancy new menus.

Why should you use this plugin? It’s good usability practise – you can read more on the plugin page.

WordPress’s new menu system is actually very handy – if you haven’t tried it out yet it essentially allows you to build your own menus and then apply them to areas (similar to widgets) – it also allows you to include external links in the menu and to have different menu wording to the page name, and order the menu items as you see fit.

The only thing it’s missing really is that it’s 100% manual, it would be nice to build in an option to dynamically build menus and then exclude pages as desired (thank you pagemash) – hopefully we will see the menu system develop in this direction in future.
