It’s been a while since I did a poster design, but a good friend of mine has written a play and asked me to design the poster. The subject matter made it a lot of fun to design with it’s supernatural motifs – but the play is also fun and entertaining so the challenge was to present something both dark and fun. I wanted to design something eye catching, that would draw you in to seek out the details on the poster once it had piqued your interest.
Bright colours and simple shapes to catch the eye are offset with some distressing in photoshop to grunge it up a little and provide a little edge to the overall fun tone.
The poster hasn’t been printed up yet, I’m looking forward to seeing how it looks in the flesh – the show itself is entitled “Madame Chavelle Presents an Evening of Answered Questions, Intrigue, Revelation and Mystery” and will be on in late October. I’ve been told by some people who have seen a showcase that it’s very engaging and entertaining – and it will be performed between courses of a meal served in Ballyvolane House which is supposed to be fabulous.
